Spectators’ Academy
Directed by Tasnádi István
The action is taking place in a close-by future, when nobody goes to the theatre any more. There were too many scandals before, the actors picked fights with the audience many times, the performances were often interrupted, and one time, the lead actor in Hamlet threw Yorick’s skull after a member of the audience who was eating popcorn. But the real tragedy took place at the performance Cid, when two award-winning actors threw a 150-kilograms heavy chandelier towards the audience. The result: four dead people and 15 injured! The government closed down all theatres.
This all happened three years ago. Therefore, it is time for the theatres to open again, but with caution. The Ministry of Culture’s Prevention Fund formed a new academic institution, whose graduates will receive spectators’ degrees, as a type of permit which asserts the person’s ability to engage in the desired psychological and physical effort.
