The selection of the 2019 TESZT Festival

The Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre will organize the twelfth edition of the Euroregional Theatre Festival Timișoara – TESZT during May 19th-26th 2019, showcasing the best performances from the region as well as rest of Europe. More than half of this year’s selection comes from the open call launched by the festival for productions from Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

The selection process for TESZT 2019 has started

More than 100 applications from the Balkans and Eastern Europe arrived during the last month for TESZT 2019. The TESZT team will start the evaluation process and contact the selected artists before February 15th 2019. Besides the performances submitted via our open call, the final programme will include other artists whose aesthetics and debated subjects match the festival’s profile. Save the date – the 12th TESZT will take place during 19th-26th of May 2019.

Ciprian Marinescu will be the curator of TESZT 2019

Ciprian Marinescu is a journalist, cultural manager and translator for theatre plays written in  German or Romanian. He lives in Germany, Romania and, lately, Mexico. During the past 15 years, he initiated and developed multiple collaborations and festivals in the area of theatre and contemporary dance in Romania and Germany.

OPEN CALL for applications: TESZT 2019

The Euroregional Theatre Festival Timișoara - TESZT, Romania is an international festival that has been organised annually since 2008 by the Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre in Timişoara. The event aims to promote multiculturalism, works as a platform for cultural exchange and also as an invitation to dialogue with the artists and other professionals from the Eastern European and Balkan region. A CHANGE IN THE PROGRAMME

Dear spectators,

Due to bureaucratic reasons, related to (not) receiving the necessary visas in order to enter our country, the performance of Qendra Multimedia from Kosovo, scheduled for May 21st at 5 pm had to be cancelled. Ironically, ”a play with four actors...” deals precisely with complications regarding European paperwork, and the Hungarian Theatre in Timisoara considers that the performance at TESZT would have been a good opportunity for discussion.
